Privacy policy (POPIA)

1. Who we are

This website is run by EasyGov (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2024/365166/07), South Africa ("EasyGov", "we"). We are the responsible party for the personal information you give us here, under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. What we collect

• Waiting list: your name, email address, phone number (if given) and a short note about what you need.
• Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (if you give it) and your message.
• Marketing choice: whether you ticked the optional box to receive EasyGov news.
• Technical information: like any website, our hosting provider processes your IP address and basic browser information to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We count page views and daily unique visitors without cookies: we store page, referring site and country counts, and a short one-way code made from your IP address and browser with a random key that changes every day. We do not store your IP address or browser details, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Please do not send us ID numbers, bank details, health information or other sensitive information through these forms.

3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We do not sell your personal information.

4. How long we keep it

• Contact messages: up to 12 months after our last reply, then deleted.
• Waiting-list entries: until launch and our launch email, or 12 months, whichever comes first.
• Marketing consent: until you unsubscribe. We then keep only your email on a "do not contact" list so we respect your choice.

5. Who helps us (operators)

We use service providers that process information on our behalf, under contracts that require them to keep it secure:

• Cloudflare, Inc. (website hosting, Cloudflare Pages, D1 database, security).
• Google (Gmail, used to read and answer messages).

If a newsletter tool is added later, we will name it here first. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

6. Information sent outside South Africa (POPIA s72)

Some of these providers store or process data outside South Africa, including in the United States and other countries where Cloudflare operates. We only use providers that are bound by data protection laws, binding rules or contracts that give protection substantially similar to POPIA.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards: encrypted connections (HTTPS), limited access to the database and the provider's security controls. If we believe your information has been accessed without permission, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

8. Your rights

You may ask us what information we hold about you and for a copy of it; to correct or delete it; to stop using it for marketing (at any time, free); or object to how we use it. Email chetty.sagie@gmail.com. We may need to confirm your identity. We aim to respond within 30 days.

11. Changes

If we make a material change, such as who is responsible for your information or what we collect, we'll update this page, change the date at the top, and tell subscribers by email before or when the change takes effect.
